Dear friends in Christ,
As we reflect on 2025, I am mindful of the words of the psalmist: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). This has been a challenging year for our nation and for the world. We have seen uncertainty, division, and economic strain. Many congregations and families have felt the weight of those realities in very personal ways.
And yet, even in a hard year, we have witnessed the steady faithfulness of God and God’s people.
The apostle Paul encourages us not to grow weary in doing good. That encouragement has felt especially meaningful this year. Across the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), I have seen perseverance. I have seen congregations continue to serve their neighbors. I have seen leaders guide with courage and humility. And I have seen generosity that reflects deep trust in God’s provision.
The Presbyterian Foundation has sought to be a steady partner in this season. We have listened carefully, stewarded resources faithfully, and worked to strengthen the ministries entrusted to our care. In the midst of uncertainty, we have remained focused on our calling to cultivate and sustain resources for Christ’s mission.
What gives me the greatest hope is you. In a year when caution would have been understandable, Presbyterians continued to give generously. Behind every gift is a testimony of faith. Anchored to this faith is an assurance that God is not finished with the Church, that ministry still matters, that generosity is an act of discipleship.
As we look ahead, we do so grounded in the promise that Christ remains the head of the Church. Our circumstances may change, but God’s faithfulness does not. Thank you for your trust, your prayers, and your steadfast commitment to Christ’s work in the world.

We have a deep level of experience with church property. In fact, since 2012, we’ve helped more than 1,500 churches discern what God would have them do next through Project Regeneration.
We’ve walked with churches as they realized they had more buildings than they needed – or when they decided merging with another congregation would honor God’s call for their church. For others, the most faithful decision may have been to close, or to sell their property and use the proceeds to support causes they love in their community and around the world in perpetuity.
We continue to work with congregations, ministries, camps and conference centers, and more, as each one seeks to faithfully steward assets entrusted to them.

Our experience in stewarding gifts from our fellow Presbyterians is unmatched. Endowments afford donors the ability to express their faith and establish enduring legacies that will be celebrated by future Presbyterians for generations to come.
As of December 31, 2025, we held more than $1 billion in 7,200 endowment funds that will support churches, schools, ministries, seminaries, and more — far into the future.
Introduced more than a decade ago, the Presbyterian Foundation’s online giving program became a vital way for congregations to receive gifts during the pandemic. The availability of the tool long before it was critical helped many congregations transition more easily to an online format. Those who wanted to add online giving were able to do so with the help of our Ministry Relations Officers and operations team.

For 100 years, the Jarvie Commonweal Service has embodied the enduring legacy of its founder, James Newbegin Jarvie (1835–1929). His faith, generosity, and vision continue to change lives.
Born in Manchester, England, and raised in the United States, Mr. Jarvie built a successful career in the coffee and sugar trade in the New York City area, earning a reputation for integrity and wisdom that led him to serve on the boards of major corporations. Yet, he regarded himself first and foremost as a steward of God, committed to using his blessings in service to others.
A lifelong Presbyterian, Mr. Jarvie gave generously to his church and to Presbyterian ministries across the nation. His philanthropy reflected both gratitude and grace. His life was rooted in the conviction that faith calls us to care for one another. Moved by compassion for older adults who had known comfort but later faced hardship and loneliness, he quietly offered support from his own resources. Recognizing the growing need, he formalized this work in 1925 by establishing the Jarvie Commonweal Service to ensure help and dignity for generations to come.
Hundreds of older adults have received compassionate care in the Jarvie program, which provides a social worker and chaplain to help each one navigate the challenges of living as an older adult. The program also provides grants to non-profits in the New York City area that cater to the needs of older adults.
Rev. Shelley Gardner, ordained as a Presbyterian pastor, serves as a chaplain and staff to the program, which is administered by VIP, a social service organization in the New York area. The Presbyterian Foundation holds an endowment that funds the program in perpetuity.
Today, as we celebrate a century of the Jarvie Program, we honor a legacy built on faith, compassion, and service. Jarvie Commonweal Service is a living testament to James Newbegin Jarvie’s belief that generosity, guided by love of God and neighbor, endures far beyond a single lifetime.
You may know us through our Ministry Relations Officers (MROs): dedicated professionals who walk alongside churches, ministries, and individuals to cultivate generosity and faithful stewardship. With a deep understanding of both the financial and spiritual dimensions of giving, they guide pastors and congregations in turning generosity into lasting impact.
More than financial experts, our MROs are church leaders themselves. They have served as pastors, elders, and denominational servants who understand the joys and challenges of ministry. Their experience in stewardship, fundraising, planned giving, and endowment development equips them to help churches grow participation, strengthen giving, and sustain mission.
